About JL Ceramics

Artist and designer Julie Lowry is a multi-disciplinarian whose inspiration and vision for her ceramics comes from her worldly travels, love of folk art, architecture, textile patterns, and nostalgia of her late grandmother's Mid Century house in Southern California.

Primarily constructing with clay slabs, coiled vessels also show up in collections from time to time to provide a pop of imperfection and technology-extinct texture. On the contrary, technology plays a large part in Julie’s glaze design and application process, allowing her to utilize her graphic design experience in her ceramics practice.  Creating JL Ceramics pieces from start to finish provides a strong connection and balance between the natural world and technology.

Julie’s first bowl was pinched on July 8, 2014.

Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know the artist and for your interest in JL Ceramics designs!

Product Care

Many JL Ceramics pieces have unglazed areas.  When fired, the raw clay becomes stain resistant, but staining is still possible if you aren't careful! To prevent permanent staining, please hand wash the same day the item is used.  To get out stubborn marks buff the affected area with baking soda and some water.

All items are glazed with non-toxic food-safe glaze.  They are also dishwasher and microwave safe. Hand washing and air drying is recommended to help your pottery live its best life!
